Respect the Van? I'd Rather Respect Glenn Beck
Van Jones is gone. He resigned as President Obama's "Green Czar" over the weekend and not a moment too soon.
An avowed communist, this man was just another in a line of questionable choices made by Obama to counsel him. Of course, that's only if you think that "the white polluters and the white environmentalists are essentially steering poison into the people-of-color communities".
Jones calls Republicans "assholes" in a public setting then when he's forced to resign whines how a "vicious smear campaign" was mounted against him. Who's the vicious one here?
It comes to light that he's a "9/11 Truther" and signed an online petition suggesting the Bush administration may have been behind the attack. Then, when someone discovers this, he claims he didn't know what he was signing and apologizes. You'd think a graduate from Yale Law would be a more careful reader.
Well, we have Glenn Beck to thank for hammering the facts home about this guy. After weeks of disclosure on his radio and TV show, Fox News Channel itself finally picked up the story and the pressure began to mount for Jones to leave.
Beck, a constant target for the far-left, is often cast as a nut-job, conspiracy theorist, gloom and doom right-winger. And though I'll admit he sometimes comes off a little manic, I attribute that more to his early career as a morning radio host. (Morning radio personalities are bizarre. Please see "The Wacky World of Radio - Deejays")
That being said, he was right about Van Jones and Beck is right about a lot of the baggage President Obama has surrounded himself with. I would not be honest if I didn't tell you I worry for the safety of Glenn Beck. I think he has consciously chosen to put himself way out there and it concerns me.
Never in my life do I ever remember our country and its values under harsher assault. I don't want it transformed into Obama's vision of social justice. But, all I can do is blog about it. Beck has the platform to really push back - and he does. This has not endeared him to those in the Obama administration who are bent on pushing the United States so far to the left, we'll fall off the constitutional edge - forever. These people are agenda-driven and dangerous people.
So, good riddance Van Jones. I don't need another squiggly light bulb in my life. What I do need are more courageous people like Glenn Beck who are risking it all on behalf of all Americans who are now more than ever - at risk.
