Make a list of all persons socialism could harm – or just
substitute the most recent U.S. Census.
Occasionally, I fall off the wagon and drool a little bit when my
yearly Social Security statement arrives.  But, being a recovering
Democrat is a day-to-day struggle and nobody said it would be easy to
stay principled and independent.  Lord knows I’m trying.
More than ever, I now realize that there is a war of words
occurring in America and if people don’t speak up and fight back, we
stand to lose more than the essence of our culture; we are in jeopardy of
losing the very freedoms so badly fought for centuries ago.
I’m not going to sit back and just watch these guys jackhammer
America into small piles of stone.  I’m nobody and I’m everybody.  I’m
entering the political discussion and I’m screaming at the top of my lungs.
I’m pushing my way into the fray and I will not be ignored.
Make no mistake: I plan to scorn people and positions I detest. The
far-left has taught me that if I try to be reasonable, I will only signal
weakness.  As much as I would prefer to compromise, I realize it is futile
because the far-left cannot be trusted.  (Just look how it raided the federal
cookie jar with the $787 billion dollar economic stimulus bill.)
I am going to take a lot of shots.  In return, I will no doubt be
maligned, denigrated, disparaged or worse: insulted on a thousand liberal
blogs by pajama-clad people who are torn between creating a post about
me or playing on their Nintendo Wii.
Oh, the indignity.
You may not agree with me and that’s fine. But, I’m going to say
everything that’s on my mind, speak honestly, and let the chips fall where
they may.  The kind of “change” being foisted upon us by the
Democratically-controlled Congress is poised to change our country
permanently in ways which scream to be defeated.
